We are an Australian based Company. Considered one of the world’s most expensive
and exotic spice, Saffron is used both as a colouring and flavouring
agent. Saffron is also known to have
many health benefits going back as far as the writing of Galen and
Hippocrates. The word Saffron is derived
from the Arabic word for yellow & the name Saffron reflects the high
concentration of carotenoid pigments present in the stigmas of the Saffron
flowers.
Why do we sell Saffron?
There are different varieties of Saffron and how do you separate the wheat from the chaff? This is where we come into picture. We know our saffron well because of our family history of dealing in saffron and spices which goes back to at least 5 generations. Our ancestors established their shop named Shaikh Dawood & Son's in beginning of the last century on Avenue Road near the Rice Memorial Church which is one of the oldest church established in 1834 in the Pettah area of Bangalore City in India. They quickly established a reputation for selling quality saffron, herbs & spices which they imported from all over the region. However, we don’t just rely on our personal knowledge and experience, we also use modern methods of testing and analysing each and every consignment of saffron that comes to our warehouse to ensure it meets Australian, American & other International market standards.
